EVH signature model: serial #-84036 (no longer made) Cost about $2,000 or so.
Purple flame maple top w/ matching headstock, heavy birdseye maple neck and fingerboard, twin Dimarzio humbuckers wound to Ed's specs, 3 position pup switch, one tone control(volume control), Floyd Rose tremolo w/ locking nut, creme body binding, basswood body, jumbo frets, sculpted/contoured heel, etc. This guitar is beautiful, but sounds even better. It's a very fat tone, but articulate. Great snap from the unique 'buckers, maple neck and top. It's just slightly scooped in the mids, which works great for a fat tone that matches better with the rest of my single coils into the same amp on stage. The output is great, and the pickup selection is pretty balanced from each position on the switch. The middle position is awesome in that it provides a nice sparkle for distorted rhythm tones or especially for clean. It's stratty in a way, but way fatter. Simply an awesome tone. The Floyd Rose works awesome, but I never use it. I set it 'blocked', so I can use doublestops and such without the bends sounding out of tune. The truss rod adjustment is a thumbwheel at the body side of the neck. Extrememly easy to set up this way. The neck is finished in a hand-rubbed gunstock oil blend and feels better than anything. Let's face it...Ernie Ball/Music Man makes the best feeling necks. It also has a unique contour to the neck that feels very played-in. It is fat at the top and then tapered down thinner at the bottom. This makes your thumb rest comfortably at the top, but you can still make wide stretches or whatever at the bottom without fatigue. The sculpted heel makes upper fret access very easy, and it's the best in the biz. The only thing I wish this guitar had is body contours. (I love the contours on my Tonemonger strat for live playing) I do wish it had a regular bridge on it, but it is an EVH, after all. I bought it knowing that, and accepted it the way it is knowing I probably wouldn't use it much. IMO, EB/MM makes the best guitars on earth. ![]() |

Amazing build quality and nothing but top shelf appointments from Ernie Ball/Music Man.
Tone wise this guitar is unique yet familiar and is definetly a 10 outta 10.A coo reto vibe and flawless in every way. These guitars are on par with PRS and the like. I intend on owning more of EB/MM's simply incredible guitars. I can't say or get enough of my EB/MM. Craig check out my site Guitar From The Green goo for my gear and music. |

OH yeah Telepicker...I agree EB/MM does make the best necks, by a long shot, in the biz.
The hand rubbed gunstock/wax blend the rolled edges, and very comfortable shape is the best. check out my site Guitar From The Green goo for my gear and music. |

I bought a NOS Axis SS/HH from Galaxy in Atlanta. 750.00 w/case for a gtr that listed for 1700.00!! They had several EVH Axis, and 2 Super Sports aquired from an out of business Gtr. Center. EB verified new inst warranty.(later tried to back out but conceded) Mine is Pearl Silver/Cream Binding and P'ups, vintage 2 point whammy, Locking tuners and a beautiful figured/ birdseye neck. Volume and tone w/5 way switch controls. What a well made, great playing, beautiful guitar..SCREAMS ( Note: check for small cracks in the finish where the neck joins the body. mine has a 2mm finish crack and I think it is common. EB will repl the body at n/c. I have a RT#, but I'm gonna just keep my eye on it for a while)
I wonder what this knob does? |
